2012 EMC Music Magazine Article (Double Page Spread)
2012 EMC Music Magazine Contents Page
This is my contents page design for my AS media music magazine EMC. I designed the contents page with inspiration from a few magazines such as Q, NME, Mixmag and Uncut. I went with the simple design which is similar to the magazine Uncut because I wanted it to relate to an older target audience of the age between 19-24.

2012 Music Magazine Front Cover
This is my final edition of my front cover, I chose to do these colours because
I felt that they blended with the background because I chose the colour picker tool
to get the colour for the spray paint effect and also for text colours as well. The target
audience for my Music magazine is Indie/Dance enthusiasts.

2011 Second Mixmag Magazine Analysis
This is my presentation for my second analysis of mixmag, the reason I chose
to do two mixmag analysis and not a different magazine is because I found the
layout and features of this second magazine as interesting as the first one.
The reason I chose this magazine is because the main article was on drugs suggesting
that the magazine will be focusing on the drug scene of dance music. The reason I found
this interesting is because I was confused as to whether the magazine where trying to breache
out to the audience in a positive way about drugs or a negative way about drugs. I also chose this
magazine because when I chose the DPS of the female musician/DJ I wanted to show that
the dance scene isn't all about men and felt inspired by the fact they had chosen a women
musician/DJ for one of their DPS features.
2011 Mixmag Magazine Analysis
This is my presentation showing my analysis of dance magazine mixmag. The reason
I chose mixmag is because I was planning on basing my magazine on dance genre target
audience, so felt that I could get some inspiration through the choice of magazine to analyse.
I found the magazine interesting in the way it focuses on the club scene of dance music, which
is suggesting that they're breaching out to a niche market where as I want to breache to a larger
target audience.
2011 Q Magazine Analysis
This is my presentation showing me analysing a Q magazine of my choice, the reason
I chose this magazine is because of the way the main image is based on the main article
and also the reason that the main article features as the biggest image on the contents page.
Also because I found the choice of main image interesting in the way they capture the audience
but give the musician a split personality, because Cheryl Cole is seen as the queen of pop and
to be featuring in Q as a Rock Chick isn't normally seen. Also I find the layout of the page
interesting in the way Q change the design of the magazine from being full of information to
being more like a poster style for a subscribers edition. I also like the way that the original
colour of the logo works with the colour of the image, I understand that it is hard to keep
a colour scheme flowing if your magazine sticks with one logo colour and doesn't change
it for different magazine designs.
Development of 2011 College Magazine Contents showing the effects I used.
This is the presentation showing the development of my 2011 College Magazine using
Adobe Photoshop CS5, the reason I chose to only show the development of the contents
page is because I felt that I captured the same effects in the contents as I did in the front page.
In the presentation I show the effects I used on the contents page and also give a few words
as to why I chose the effects and what they're on the page to do.
2011 College Magazine Contents Page
This is my final development of the College magazine front cover, I went with white and black being
the colours for the text because the image was so bright I didn't want to fill the page with colour.
Also if I was to chose loads of different colours for the text, it would make the page look like it
has more information on it then it really has and by picking black and white it looks like the
page doesn't have that much text to read. Also I feel it flows with the house style of the magazine with it being plain.
This is the image I took for my College magazine, I chose to take the picture
of Dr Dre Beats headphones because my magazine was on gadgets within the
music industry. The reason I took the image on the white background with them
laying down, makes it look as though they have been used by some one capturing the
audience by making them want to be the person using them. Also the reason
I chose the white background as well was to give the image a plain look and stopping it from
looking cramped and crammed of many things to relate to the target audience age range for the magazine.

2011 College Magazine Front Cover adjusted
This is the adjusted College Magazine Front Cover, it is an adjustment of the
original keeping with the original title of the magazine and the original poster
image for the front cover. I thought I would also add a win bubble to make the
College Magazien Front Cover to give the magazine a more crisp and professional
look, also changed the red from being the background colour to becoming the text
colour because I felt that the red being the background colour was to in your face.
2011 College Magazine Front Cover original
This is my original design for my Collge magazine front cover, I chose the red colour
because I wanted to relate the magazine to CCN itself. I chose the Poster look because
I wanted to make the magazine look less cramped because readers of that age wouldn't
want to much information to read.
2011 CD Cover Inspiration for CD Design
These are the CD designs I like and take interest in I have chosen them because
they're some of my favourite musicians and the Covers stand out to me with bright
colours and the images on the CD cover. I used these Covers to give me inspiration.
2011 CD Design on Adobe Photoshop CS5
This is my CD design, the design idea was completely original without any inspiration,
I took all images from google images and edited them together to create a CD front cover
and back cover.
I chose the CD design because I wanted to breache to a wider audience but based around grime,
dubstep and hip hop.
The editing I chose relates to the target audience, with the musician chosen, the banksy artwork
and the grimey looking street. I've also chosen a banksy artwork for the back cover to keep a
flowing style.
Using the Black&White and the Multiply text effect on Adobe Photoshop CS5
This is the screen grabs for the edited image of pink, the editing that I have done to the
image is adding a Black&White effect and also including the Pink text with the Multiply
effect to blend the text to the image.
Using Black&White effect and the History Brush Tool in Adobe Photoshop CS5
This is the completed edit of the Angelina Jolie image that I had taken from google images.
The editing I used with this image were the History Brush Tool for the strawberry and the eyes. The reason I chose to edit her eyes and the strawberry was because they gave out the brightest colours
and stood out on the page.
